Don't laugh...I'm new at this

Well, I finally took the plunge and created my own blog after sitting here in front of my computer screen for at least an hour and a half reading the blogs of friends, past and present, all the while needing desperately to pee and watching my window of opportunity for exercising before Gabe awakens from his afternoon nap gradually disappear. Amazingly, in all this time I don't think my dog Maggie has barked once. That could be a sign of the apocalypse!

Anyway, what inspired me to do this blog thing? Partly the "everyone else is doing it and I don't want to feel left out" syndrome; partly the embarrassment I feel at not having kept any sort of journal in too many years to remember despite the fact that I consider myself a sometime writer; partly the curiosity to see if I still have the discipline to keep at something for any length of time (after all, having a two-year old does something to one's attention span); partly the need to expiate my guilt over the feeling of eavesdropping/spying that I have from reading the blogs of ex-boyfriends that I accidentally discovered (the blogs were accidentally discovered, not the boyfriends...or maybe...who knows?).

And yes, I still need to pee. For those of you (as if I even have a reading audience at this point) for whom this is too much information, my apologies.

Great to have you online! I look forward to reading your stuff. And I can show you how to set up your links and stuff, too, if you like.

And now, I must go. I have to pee, too. :-)
